Jon Hamm has only hosted three times but seemed to be on the fast track to a 5-Timer’s jacket. Everyone seems to want him back so he’ll probably return but until then, here’s all his episodes ranked.
Jon’s 3rd episode is just average which most episodes of SNL are. It’s a letdown because his first two are bordering on classic. There’s nothing classic in this one but there’s some good. We get to see some fun impressions for the Back To The Future 25th Anniversary DVD and Kristen’s dos and don’ts for her Audition are very funny. There’s also one big post-Update dud in Highway Cops and you get the joy of Garth & Kat on Update. Vincent Price’s Halloween Special is a wash as it’s hard to hate it but also hard to get excited about the 6th installment, same can be said for the second Shy Ronnie digital short. Rihanna rocks though so that’s a bonus.

Season 35 Episode 13
Jon Hamm / Michael Bublé
Sketch Average: 3.4 Stars
It was hard to choose which was #1 but then I remembered this one has Elinda Nade the Court Stenographer and this instantly lost some respect. It’s also got 1920’s Party and New Senator which are weak but look like Shakespeare compared to Fred’s character. But the highs are sky high. The mysterious Sergio, Barnes & Noble’s American Enterprise, the return of Game Time With Randy And Greg, and the spiritual successor to Jon Hamm’s John Hamm Hamm & Bublé. It’s also got Michael Bublé and the instant classic Closet Organizer. It almost makes you forget that Fred lays a big old turd in the middle.

Season 34 Episode 6
Jon Hamm / Coldplay
Sketch Average: 3.4 Stars
With the exception of the political material and a super long Update (with Nicholas Fehn no less) everything works in this one. You got an all-timer sketch right up top with Jeff Montgomery out for Trick Or Treat. Then you follow that up with Ras Trent. The final Two A-Holes sketch still has some juice as they tie them in with Mad Men. Then to continue the Mad Men train we get Don Drapery’s Guide To Picking Up Women. The 3rd Vincent Price Halloween Special back when it was appropriate to have excitement for it. And we close the night with two fantastic pieces where Jon speaks straight to camera, the hilarious and delicious Jon Hamm’s John Ham and a political ad for the unfortunately named Pat Finger. This one I have no issues slapping a ‘Classic’ sticker on.
